Inkeri Leivo
Inkeri Leivo (1944-2010) began her career in Arabia in 1969. During the years she designed tableware with and without decorations that have been in serial production. Inkeri’s best known designed series is without any doubt the pure and white Arctica. When it was launched it was very radical with its whiteness and yet it is still one of the most popular series in the Arabia assortment today.
In her unique art works Inkeri was inspired by the nature. Especially leafs were a very important theme in her works. She used ceramics very creatively in her different works, a good example are her ceramics lamps. Inkeri Leivo’s art works are in several museums. Among other prizes she received the Formland -Design Prize in 1988 and State of Finland Award for Industrial Design in 1992.
